Combat Paper Workshop Day One:
Breaking of rag, pulping of the uniform. This includes an informal discussion about papermaking as well as greetings and introductions. Combat Paper is made using uniforms worn while on tour during war. The uniforms are cut into pieces, cooked and macerated in a Hollander beater to make paper pulp. War veterans use the process of making Combat Paper as a means to reconcile their experiences while engaged in conflict once they return to civilian life. PUBLIC WELCOME TO OBSERVE. Art Lofts, 111 N. Learning Through Story:
WI Story Booth & Sterling Hall Bombing Memories
featuring Mike Lawler (Wisconsin Story Project) and Troy Reeves (UW-Madison Oral History Program). A discussion of last summer’s collaboration between the Wisconsin Story Project and the UW-Oral History Program in which, for the 40th anniversary of the Sterling Hall bombing, they gathered stories from Madisonians willing and able to offer their memories of that infamous event. Learning Through Stories is a discussion group that gathers on the University of Wisconsin, Madison campus to discuss aspects of research. Room 220 Teacher Education Building, 225 N. Mills St.

Exhibit: History of the 44th General Hospital of Madison, Wisconsin
This exhibit presents a brief history of the 44th General Hospital during World War II and Desert Storm. The 44th General Hospital was deactivated in September 1995, probably to never be activated again. In September 2000 Don Klimpel organized a group of former 44th General Hospital members and chaired the creation of this exhibit in memory of Dr. Shapiro a one time commander of the hospital. 1st Floor Lobby, Lathrop Hall, 1050 University Ave.
