Arts on Campus

Dusk falls to nighttime as pedestrians walk along East Campus Mall past the Chazen Museum of Art

Whether you are inspired by seeing others’ artwork or would like to exhibit or perform, UW–Madison has over 30 galleries, 8 performance spaces, and presents over 1,500 arts events every year. Do you like to venture out to enjoy a great film? There are 3 movie theaters on campus and we are home to the largest university-produced film festival in the nation. The Wisconsin Film Festival runs for eight days in April and shows a wide range of 150 films, including student work and international films.

We are also home to the Chazen Museum of Art, which includes work by major modern and contemporary artists, including El Anatsui and Louise Nevelson. While walking to classes, you may be inspired by some amazing and thought-provoking public art, from the first university artist in residence John Steuart Curry to famed glassmaker, designer, and UW alum Dale Chihuly.
